Clockwork Atelier

You are looking out through the back of a clock tower's great dial, from the workshop inside it, and the time on your wrist is written across the glass. Hinari, the tower's apprentice clockmaker, works at the bench below.

Everything reacts

Every second two meshed brass gears tick round and the pendulum swings.
Every minute the cuckoo door opens and the little enamel bird peeks out.
On the hour Hinari rings the bell for a minute, and the bird comes all the way out, flaps and sings.
On charge she winds the great tower key while a light runs round the pressure gauge.
Battery low and she dozes off at the bench; the gauge glows red.
New messages arrive as letters from a pneumatic tube: one letter, a bundle, or a heap (only the count is read, never the content).

A day at the bench

Six tasks through the day, stretching at dawn, repairing a pocket watch under a loupe, fitting gears, oiling the mechanism, drafting plans at dusk and tinkering by lamplight at night. The light through the window follows the day in six steps, from violet dawn to a starry night.

Not on Google Play yet
